Rank Checker – SEO Tools of the Trade for Firefox Web Browsers

Next in the Firefox Browser plugin “Tools of the Trade” series is Rank Checker. Rank Checker is a nice little plugin that will allow you to check your search ranking in Google, Yahoo, and Bing.

Rank Checker gives you the power to track your search engine ranking for multiple keywords at the click of a button.

I like being able to check my rankings real quickly without worrying that some SEO company is aggregating my data and/or spying on me. This tool is open source and hosted on your computer – designed with privacy in mind.

Looking at the rankings of a couple of your sites that you know intimately well and tracking how they change over time allows you to

• learn how to read the search results
• appreciate and understand general algorithmic trends
• be one of the first people to know when the relevancy algorithms change in a major way

Rank Checker is just one of the offerings from Aaron Wall at SEOBook.com that we will be covering in this Firefox Plugin series.

Even though Rank Checker is limited by only covering the 3 major search engines I still find it very useful.

You can actually add multiple keywords with a pop-up menu.

I will use this Firefox Plugin when checking the keywords for a potential client. Many website owners actually have no idea how they rank for their chosen keywords on the big 3.

Rank Checker returns nice orderly results which can be saved, exported as a csv file, and scheduled for consistent tracking.

I don’t use the scheduling feature. It is nice that Aaron has added tracking over time.

I do find Rank Checker useful. Rank Checker isn’t my only search engine rank checking/tracking tool in my SEO arsenal but, that’s just ammunition for a post at another time.
