Google Local Search Tips That Will Help With SEO from Kent Lewis and Vanessa Fox
Post from Search Engine Optimizician.
Yesterday at WebVisions in Portland, Oregon, I got two tips about Google Local and SEO that were worth the price of admission by themselves.
The tips came from the first two sessions I attended.
- The Future of Organic Search
Vanessa Fox - Social Media Meets Search: Thinking Inside the OneBox

The tip from Vanessa Fox, Nine by Blue was (drum roll please) Google is looking for reviews from your website to be displayed in your Google Local results.
What is the impact of this? Wow you can actually get more press in your local results just by making your reviews easily identifiable on your site.
Think about it!
Now the tip from Kent Lewis, Anvil Media (can I get another drum roll please?) Google uses the phone number as the identifier for the Google Local accounts.
How do you use this to your advantage? If you are in a business that is very phone number dependent chances are one of your strategies should be to purchase the phone numbers of businesses in your field that are no longer in business. If not why aren’t you? How many listings can you get in the top 10 Google Local results? How many phone numbers do you have? Isn’t it great to be your own competition.
This is just two huge tips I picked up yesterday and I have another day to go. Next week I will post more detailed information on WebVisions and the sessions I attended.
Late,
Gary Pool
