Did the Google Algorithm Change to Promote Brands?

Google doesn’t call it Brand they call it Trust, Authority, Reputation, PageRank, High Quality…
It has been reported that Google has been putting more weight on brands. In an answer to this claim Matt Cutts explains Google’s position.
Google has made a change in their rankings. It is one of over 300 to 400 changes they make every year. It is not an update it is just a simple change. This “change” is being referred to as Vince’s change in the GooglePlex.
…most people haven’t even noticed it. …it effects a relatively small number of queries… We really don’t think of “brands” in search quality that much…
Matt Cutts from Google recorded a video titled “Is Google putting more weight on brands in rankings?” and posted it on YouTube. This video is included below.
Great job of “spin” Matt.
This topic was first covered by WebmasterWorld, Search Engine Roundtable, and Aaron Wall.
Has this “change” effected your rankings? How will it effect your brand marketing?
