What’s the most important part of your blog post?

If you didn’t say, “The headline,” think about what made you click through to read this from your reader or twitter.

You probably arrived at my blog based on the power of the words in the headline.

This post was inspired by a great post from Remarkablogger, Michael Martine.

This could be the best video I’ve ever done in my life, but if the headline didn’t pull you in, would you be here watching it?

Here is the Video by Michael.

Here are some of the points he makes in the video.

Blog writing headlines

Magazine headlines are good inspirations for your headlines

Cosmo is a great inspiration for headlines.

Woman's WorldWoman’s World is very Good for headlines.
Examples:

  • “The 10 Minute Happiness Tricks”
  • “Thrifty Dinners So Delicious No One Will Know They Are Cheap”
  • “Discover the Beer Cure for Alzheimer’s and Insomnia”
  • “Try This Lipstick to Look Years Younger”
  • “Get More Good Luck, Try The Tricks Really Lucky People Know and Even Learn How To Even Beat A Bad Luck Streak”
  • “How Coffee Can Save Your Life”
  • “Find Money Savers Already in Your Wallet”
  • “Your Not Dreaming Your Dog Can Read Your Mind”
  • “The Walking Trick Health Gurus Love”

Take these ideas from a magazine and apply them to your blog headlines and/or even your posts.

You can swap out the words and make them fit your topics.

Michael also recommends you visit Brian Clark’s blog copyblogger for more in depth information on writing headlines.

Regardless of the information in your blog if the headline doesn’t pull readers in it doesn’t matter.

CONTENT may be KING but without a good HEADLINE bringing in visitors what difference does it make. The content is there to bring your visitors back the headline is there to bring them in.

Late,
Gary Pool
