Marketing the Tour of California with Lance Armstrong

Levi Leipheimer digs deep and closes the gap on the breakaway. He ends the day wearing the coveted yellow jersey of the race leader. Levi launched a well-timed attack and took 2nd on the Tour of California’s stage 2 at the finish line in Santa Cruz.

Lance Armstrong

A photographers motorcycle crashes in front of Lance Armstrong during the race and he is forced to crash over the top of them. Lance still manages to finish the race and move up one place in the over all standings. Armstrong is currently residing in the fourth spot.

tour california2 Marketing the Tour of California with Lance Armstrong The night before stage 2 began the Astana Cycling Team truck was broken into and four bikes were stolen, including the Trek TTX, the time trial bike belonging to Lance Armstrong. Team Astana is setting pretty in the standings after stage 2 of the Tour of California.

Marketing

While watching Lance Armstrong in the Tour of California I noticed the marvelous job of marketing that is being done. So far each major town on the route has purchased advertising time during the race to highlight themselves. What a perfect time to promote your city. As the race is traversing your town you get to plug the audience with the fact that you too can ride your bike through this lovely town.
Santa Cruz did a great job yesterday showing you that not only could you bike and hike in their town but they also offer other experiences such as surfing.
