Should I Submit My Site to Google and the Other Search Engines?

It has been my stance for quite some time now that you should never submit a site to any of the search engines. This includes Google, Yahoo!, and MSN.
The site has been up for a couple of years now and Google still can’t find it.

The keyword phrase we used to check any Google recognition for this example was “Portland Quiropractico” in quotes.
In reaction to my non search engine submission statement I was asked a question today about how to get a website noticed by Google without submitting your site to them.
My answer was “there are many ways to have the search engines notice and visit your site.”
- You can sign up for Google Webmaster Tools and have them verify your xml sitemap.
- You can submit your site to some directories.
- You can have someone with a blog that Google visits often to link to that site.
- You can find someone with a website who will be willing to give you a link.
- There are many more ways but you get the idea.
If you are learning more about this sure and read my blog post ” Submitting to Search Engines (or not)”
