Add Another Weapon to Your Keyword Research Arsenal

Search-based Keyword Tool
Google’s Search-based Keyword Tool (beta) will give you a better sense of what your potential customers are searching for and which keywords Google sees as being relative to your website. When coupled with a keyword research tool like NicheBot (my favorite keyword weapon) this new tool will keep your arsenal fully stocked.

Not only will this new tool give you good information on what keywords to bid on for your Pay-Per-Click campaigns it will give you insight into Google’s view of the organic structure of your website.

Google search engine starts with searches conducted by users and helps them find relevant pages. But for keyword targeting, what you want is a tool that goes in the opposite direction by starting with your pages and identifying keywords that potential customers are searching on to find your products or services. The Search-based Keyword Tool does exactly this, leveraging search query data relevant to your website’s content. In other words, this new tool gives you keywords that are highly relevant to your site but are not part of your AdWords campaigns. This helps you take advantage of missed opportunities.

The tool is also useful if you don’t currently advertise on AdWords. For example, a shoe store could discover which footwear styles users are searching for, or a digital camera blog could decide which cameras to review by looking at which camera models attract the most queries.

Here are some screen shots of the new Search-based Keyword Tool in action.
Search-based Keyword Tool opening screen
The opening screen. It’s really straight forward. You just enter the keyword or words into the field and Google searches your site and gives you a list of suggestions.

Not only do you get a list of keywords and/or keyword phrases you also get the Google’s choice for the location of those words and phrases in your site. Any organic insights come to mind?

I would suggest you check this new Search-based Keyword Tool out. Use it not only for your AdWords campaigns but it is a very insightful tool for your organic SEO also.

Late,
Gary Pool
