Web 2.0 | Social Media Marketing | Time Tunnel
Filed Under Marketing, Social Networking | Comments Off
While visiting a darn good marketing blog today I came across a picture from my all time favorite TV show.

When it was on I thought The Time Tunnel was the perfect show. I was entertained and learned some history to boot. Well at least I learned that history didn’t have to be boring.
Enough of the spin down memory lane, on with the blog post:
I’ve noticed a worrying trend amongst fellow marketers. They are dismissive of web 2.0 and this will hurt them in the long run.
In his post “Web 2.0 – Ignore At Your Peril” Mike Mindel touts the validity of using Facebook as a marketing tool.
He gives some Facebook statistics.
July statistics:
- More than 31 million regular users (use the system at least once a month)
- Half those users (15 million) login at least twice a day
- More than 100,000 new registrations per day since January 2007
- An average of 3 percent weekly growth since January 2007
According to Adonomics, as of 16th September 2008 the Top Friends Facebook application has had 15,498,329 installations!
Mike touts Facebook but this is a very good case for using Social Media Marketing (SMM) period.
If you aren’t using Web 2.0 for at least an arm of your marketing, why not?
Join one, check them out, and get your feet wet. It is actually fun!
